Who Runs This Site

Cooking With Mom (cookingwithmom.app) is run by Webline Media Group, Inc. You can reach us at support@cookingwithmom.app. Using the site is governed by the Terms of Use and the Privacy Notice.

The site's design, software, name and logo belong to Webline Media Group, Inc. The recipes, photos and everything else members add belong to the members who added them.

Importing Recipes

Members can bring recipes in from elsewhere instead of typing them. From a web page, the importer copies the recipe's title, ingredients and steps, its servings and times, its category and tags, the cook's name as the page credits it, and the page's address so the source is always shown. It never copies the page's photos, description or story. Members can also import the files other recipe apps export, and paste in text. Ingredient lists are kept close to how the source states them; steps are meant to be rewritten in the member's own words before saving.

Imported Recipes Stay Private

A recipe imported from a web page, or one a member marks as someone else's work when importing it, is always Private to the person who imported it. It can't be made Public, shared with a Family, or used as the starting point for a variation (“Make It My Way”). It is a personal reference copy, not a republished one.

Under U.S. copyright law, a plain list of ingredients and a bare set of functional cooking directions generally aren't protected by copyright; they are treated as facts and process, not creative expression. What can be protected is everything around a recipe: a headnote, a personal story, a stylized description, and photographs. The importer is built around that distinction. It leaves out photos, backstory and other descriptive writing, and asks members to rewrite steps rather than keep a source's exact phrasing.

This is general information, not legal advice, and it isn't a guarantee that importing any particular recipe is risk-free. Members are responsible for how they use what they import, including respecting a source's own terms of use, and for keeping that use personal and non-commercial.

If you believe something on this site infringes a copyright you own or represent, email support@cookingwithmom.app with “Copyright” in the subject and include:

  • the work you believe is infringed;
  • the material on this site you believe infringes it, with enough detail to find it (a link is best);
  • your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
  • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner;
  • your physical or electronic signature.

When we receive a complete notice, we remove the material or block access to it and tell the member who added it. A member who believes the material was removed by mistake can reply with a counter-notice, and we may restore it unless the complaint is taken to court. We close the accounts of members who repeatedly infringe. Sending a notice or counter-notice you know to be false can make you liable for damages.
