About These Terms
Cooking With Mom (cookingwithmom.app) is a private, invitation-only family cookbook run by Webline Media Group, Inc. (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us about using it. By signing in or using the site you agree to them, and to the Privacy Notice, which explains how your information is handled. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Who Can Use It
Membership is by invitation. You can join only through an invitation a member sends you, and invitations are limited in number. A recipe a member shares with you by link can be read without an account, but it is not an invitation. You can ask that member for one, and they are free to grant or decline your request.
You must be at least 13 years old to have an account. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms on your behalf.
Your Account
There are no passwords: you sign in with a link or a code we email you. That makes your email account the key to this one, so keep it secure. Don't forward a sign-in email, share its code or let someone else use your account; invitations are how membership is controlled. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and if you think someone else has gotten in, tell us right away.
Your Recipes
What you add stays yours: recipes, photos, notes, reviews, comments and everything else. Adding it here doesn't transfer ownership to us.
To run the site we need your permission to do certain things with it, and by adding content you give us that permission, free of charge and only for running Cooking With Mom:
- to store it, back it up, and include it in your own export;
- to show it to the people your settings allow (see below);
- to let other members save copies, as described below;
- to send it to an AI assistant when a member who can see it asks their assistant about it;
- to keep showing your Public recipes and menus, credited to you by name, after you delete your account, as the Privacy Notice describes.
That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the last item, copies other members have already saved, and backup copies until they expire.
You are responsible for what you add. Only add things you have the right to share: your own writing and photos, family recipes, and recipes from elsewhere within the limits the Legal Notice explains.
Who Sees What You Share
You choose who sees each recipe:
- Private recipes are seen only by you and by any Family you share them with.
- Public recipes are seen by every member. A member can also send someone who isn't a member a preview link to a Public recipe. The link works for 7 days and shows the recipe, its photo and your name.
Your name appears beside your Public recipes, reviews and comments. Changing who can see a recipe takes effect immediately. Recipes are not listed in search engines, and preview links are kept out of them too.
Copies Other Members Save
If you make a recipe Public, other members may save their own copy. A saved copy belongs to the member who saved it: they may keep it, change it, and share it on this site under their own name, with a note showing where it came from. Making your recipe Private later, or leaving the site, does not take back copies already saved. Recipes shared only with your Family may also be copied by Family members for their own use, but those copies can never be made Public.
So while access here follows your choices, copies do not: treat sharing as permanent in spirit, because somebody may already have read it and kept a copy of their own.
Things You May Not Do
Don't use the site to:
- add content you don't have the right to share, or that infringes someone's copyright, trademark or privacy;
- harass, threaten or demean anyone, or post hateful, sexually explicit or illegal content;
- post someone else's personal information without their permission;
- send spam, or send invitations to people you don't know, including by approving a request to join from someone you don't know;
- get into another member's account or data, get around the site's limits, copy its content in bulk with automated tools, or attack, overload or probe the site.
We may hide or remove content that breaks these rules, and disable an account that does. To report something, contact us (below).
Importing Recipes
The import tools bring recipes in from web pages, from files other recipe apps export, and from text you paste. You are responsible for what you import and for following the source's own terms. Recipes imported from a web page, and any you mark as someone else's work when you import them, stay Private to you and can't be shared with a Family. The Legal Notice explains what is copied and why.
Connected Assistants
You can connect Claude, made by Anthropic, to your cookbook, and an Amazon Alexa skill is being tested. Connecting is your choice, and you can disconnect at any time from Manage Profile. Your use of an assistant is governed by your own agreement with the company that makes it, not by these terms, and what it reads is sent to that company so it can answer you. The Privacy Notice sets out what each one receives and can change.
An assistant can be wrong. It can misread a recipe, get an amount or a temperature wrong, or leave out an ingredient that matters for an allergy. A recipe an assistant writes or changes arrives as a draft for you to check before it is saved, so check it carefully.
Food Safety
Recipes here are written by members, not by professional cooks or dietitians, and nobody checks them. Allergens, amounts and cooking times may be missing or wrong. Use your own judgment, and consult a healthcare professional or government guidelines about allergies, dietary needs and safe food handling. You are responsible for what you cook and serve.
A Free Service That May Change
Cooking With Mom is free. We may add, change or remove features, limit how much can be stored or sent, or take the site down for maintenance. If we ever decide to close it, we will email members at least 30 days beforehand so there is time to export everything.
Closing an Account
You can delete your account at any time from Manage Profile; the Privacy Notice explains what is kept and what is deleted. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that puts other members or the site at risk, or when the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your recipes first.
The parts of these terms that by their nature should outlast an account continue after it closes: ownership, the permission for kept Public recipes, and the sections on warranty, liability and claims.
No Warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work hard to keep your recipes safe and back them up every night, but we can't promise the site will always be available or free of errors, or that nothing will ever be lost. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose. Export My Data on Manage Profile downloads a copy of your recipes and the rest of your information, and it exists for exactly this.
Limit of Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the site, including anything you cook from a recipe here. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
Claims About Your Content
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you added or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the site changes, and the date at the top always shows the current version. If a change takes away something you rely on or asks something new of you, we will tell members by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless it is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. Using the site after a change takes effect means you accept it.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law. Any dispute about the site or these terms will be decided in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you and we both agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
The Rest of the Agreement
These terms, the Privacy Notice and the Legal Notice are the whole agreement between you and us about the site. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part right away, we haven't given up the right to later. You can't transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them if the site moves to a different operator, and we will tell you if that happens.
